Rubi First Dance

Rubi is super sweet and an awesome teacher! You can take as many lessons as you need. Our dance was so awesome and blew away all of our guests. It also allowed my husband to be less nervous about dancing in front of all of our guests.

At last minute (we're talking a month prior to the wedding), my fiancee and I decided that we weren't exactly ready to hit the dance floor. Enter Rubi at Rubi First Dance (http://www.rubifirstdance.com/). In three lessons, my groom and I had an arsenal of turns and steps that meant we executed a more sophisticated first dance than even our parents thought was possible! We chose Rubi's dance classes because of the personal attention, great reviews, and her location at Chestnut Hill, and couldn't be happier -- and more relieved! Rubi is a terrific instructor -- she is upbeat, involved, encouraging, and works with your vision. No slow circling to the music here! We had so much fun, that we asked about doing a follow-up class for a fun date. Sure enough, Rubi organized a "latin dance night" for couples where she taught us to salsa at her studio and then took us out to the dance floor at Cuba Libre for hands-on practice! We brought our friends and had a great time -- we're looking forward to the next night out! I highly recommend First Dance whether you want to learn some steps for your wedding, or if you have the luxury of time to learn to dance!

We just did not want to look completely silly during our first dance. Our first dance song was not a typical slow song, so we were a little confused how to dance to it. We only had one dance lesson and we learned two spins and a dip for the end. She was nice and taught us so quickly that we were really surprised we learned so much in just an hour. We practiced after the lesson and we were able to do both spins and the dip during our first dance. Our guests were surprised and complimented our dance moves. She was very helpful!

We enjoyed taking private lessons from Rubi - it helped both my husband and I feel more comfortable during our first dance.

Taking dance lessons and choosing Rubi's First Dance was one of the best pre-wedding decisions we made!! We realized a few months before our wedding that we couldn't slow dance at all and needed some help. We weren't looking for a special choreographed dance or anything, just some pointers. I wish we had video of the first lesson....the difference between the first time we tried and the last time through our song was remarkable. We had a great first dance at our wedding and felt confident with our moves. Rubi taught us basics of leading, spins and a great dip to finish the song. Our guests loved it and we hope to have some great first dance pictures. Really one of the best things we did to prepare for our wedding!!

Rubi was amazing! We wish we would have come to her earlier. She is pretty young (around 27?) and has a cute little studio set up in Chestnut Hill. We went to a "professional" dance company before her and learned nothing. She went right to it..teaching us our first dance and then worked with my Dad and I on our Father-Daughter Dance. We loved our experience with Rubi. Given that we were not the best dancers, she made us feel very comfortable and open to our suggestions. She truly made it an enjoyable experience amidst all the stress. She also found time to work within our crazy schedules and efficiently put together the choreography for us in just a few cram sessions before the wedding. Great easy-going personality. Highly recommend her to future brides.

Rubi was great to work with. My husband and I just wanted to learn a few basic steps so we didn't look like we were at a grade school dance. Rubi was a great teacher as well as being patient, responsive, fun and taught us a great first dance. Dancing to our first dance was one of the highlights of our reception, our guests were all shocked and we had such a blast. I would recommend Rubi to every bride who wants to have a memorable first dance!

When planning my wedding, I had everything under control... but everytime I thought about our first dance, I got nervous. For one, I am NOT a natural dancer! Also, I thought I would be so nervous to have everyone staring at me while I clung to my husband doing the 8th grade rock back and forth dance move. I decided to get some help, and Rubi was absolutely the best choice for us. She really took her time to show us how to move together, how to let go and let my husband lead, and incorporated some twists, turns and dips that were beyond what I imagined we could do! The result... not only did we look good dancing (we got MANY compliments!), but we felt comfortable while doing it, allowing us to actually enjoy the first dance. I highly recommend Rubi to any bride!

I couldn't believe how fast my fiance and I quickly learned how to dance well with Rubi. Her lessons are so much fun!
