My husband and I got married at the Lake House this past June and I have to say that overall our wedding and experience with the Lake House Inn was absolutely magical. When we visited the Lake House Inn 2 years ago we feel in love with the setting and booked it right away after looking at only a few other venues. It was everything that we were looking for, a beautiful spacious outdoor setting for the ceremony and cocktails, and a perfect ballroom for the party. Robyn was assigned to be our wedding coordinator and I can not say how lucky we felt to have someone as experienced, responsive and knowledgeable help us plan the wedding. We were planning the wedding from a different state and did not hire an outside planner so it was very important that we could trust all of Robyn's recommendations. We had a terrific experience with every vendor she recommended- which turned out to be more than half of the vendors we ultimately chose. Looking back at the pictures again reminds me what a beautiful day it was and how happy we were to have chosen the Lake House Inn as our venue!

We could not have been happier with our wedding at The Lake House Inn. The location is absolutely gorgeous, the staff was courteous and helpful, and the inn is magnificent. We were able to accommodate the entire wedding party at the Lake House, and since we had a Friday evening wedding we had the entire place for two nights. Having 10 complimentary rooms for guests to stay for two nights definitely offset the expense of booking The Lake House. We even held our rehearsal dinner at the Lake House. We have received countless compliments on how beautiful the wedding was and have been asked multiple times about how we found such a fabulous location for our wedding. This site is definitely a hidden gem and I truly do not have enough good things to say about this venue.

We had a fairy tale wedding at the Lake House Inn. The food & staff were superb. It is an excellent place for an intimate ceremony, followed by a beautiful venue for a cocktail hour & reception. The provided my dream come true wedding from day one.

We had our wedding ceremony, reception and after party here on 12/16. Everything was fantastic and exceeded my wildest expectations. The staff was very accomodating and flexible to our needs. We had a few requests for customization and they met every request with a smile. Shannon was terrific in helping us plan for the day and in executing that plan to perfection. Thanks a million!

The day couldn't have gone any better. Everything ran very smoothly -- staff was attentive yet mostly invisible, the food was better than I had remembered at the tasting... the ambiance was beautiful. Very professional all around -- I saw Jason working at 10AM that morning, and he was still working and bringing us beer past 3AM at the fire pit. "Above and beyond" fits almost every aspect of our wedding day, truly the best day of my life. Shannon did an excellent job planning with us, and although it sometimes took a few extra days to get a response to a phone call or email, she delivered on everything that was promised. I'd love to do it all over again :) Thanks a million, words can't describe, I can't think of any better place to begin my new journey in life. -A.W.

If you’re looking for an outdoor wedding in a beautiful setting, it doesn’t get much better than the Lake House Inn. The owner, Glenn, and his wife--who a few years ago bought the Lake House--fully refurbished and redecorated this historic building to transform it into a warm and modern venue space. They have thought of every last detail to ensure the couple and their guests can enjoy a really sophisticated wedding, reception and overnight stay.
Some of our favorite details: a welcome beverage for guests, a wine cellar where guests can take part in a tasting during the cocktail hour, 10 sleekly appointed rooms at the Lake House for a select group of family and friends to stay the night of the wedding, a fire pit for those staying at the Lake House where they order you pizza and give you buckets of beer, and breakfast ready for you when you wake up in the morning (the homemade quiche is really tasty).
Both the backdrop, Lake Nockamixon, and the facility are wonderful, as are the staff at the inn. The catering service they use, Jeffrey Miller, definitely delivers --we got many compliments on the quality of the food from our guests.
While it’s by no means inexpensive, you absolutely get what you pay for in terms of organization, professionalism and creativity.
Our wedding involved an Indian and a Catholic ceremony in the same day, which posed a number of logistical challenges, but the Lake House didn’t bat an eye. Our planner, Robyn, was a real pro. She was a breeze to work with, made wonderful suggestions about food and beverage choices, was incredibly attentive and energetic, and we can’t recommend her in particular more highly. Additionally, we worked with Anthony and Revathy at Jeffrey Miller in order to create a custom hybrid menu of both Indian and new American flavors, and they were amazing.
Leading up to the day, they accommodated a private tasting for us in Philadelphia and the food was fantastic. We did a group tasting too, and highly recommend that experience (which is pretty chaotic) because it gives you an honest sense of how Jeffrey Miller staff prepare and serve food in large quaniity. We appreciated that the Lake House also allowed us to drop off favors, menus, and other essentials a few days before the wedding so we weren’t hauling it all there the day of.
The nicest thing about having a wedding there is it’s all yours; the only people at the event space are there for your wedding, and it’s set off at the end of a road on a lake, so no random people walking by or peeping in to see what’s going on -- or worse, having another wedding right next door. It gives the day a really special feeling.
While we worried about the risks that comes along with an outdoor ceremony --rain!-- we happened to be very luck with the weather on our day, but the Lake House staff was fully prepared to make a last minute change to move the entire ceremony indoors if need be.
We came out of the experience feeling really happy to have chosen the Lake House Inn and we highly recommend it.

I never had a "fairy tale" vision of what my wedding day would look like, but when I first visited the Lake House Inn (LHI) I knew instantly that the venue was everything wanted for my wedding day.
The site is stunning; it is located on the edge of Lake Nockamixon State Park and the state park building to the left of the LHI is the only other buillding on the waterfront. The lake is shaped like a "y" and the LHI sits at th intersection of the branches of the lake which makes for exceptionally nice photographs. Also, on a nice day there are lots of sailboats on the lake which adds to the ambiance. One of our guests jokingly asked us how much we paid for the sailboat behind our wedding ceremony in our wedding colors!
The building is historic with original elements dating back to the 1700's, but has been renovated and furnished in a clean, contemporary style which seamlessly fuses the old with the new. The architecture and decor are beautiful as they are, but is also a good foundation for customizing the site for your own wedding since the building has neutral tones and fits with a wide variety of wedding themes, colors, etc. The ballroom comes with a gobo on the draped fabric ceiling that you can customize to your wedding colors and has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to the lake. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony is held in the ballroom which still offers a full lake view. This option was very important to me as a backup to our outdoor ceremony.
The hotel rooms are really nice; certainly on par with an elegant boutique hotel - when we were talking with them about booking, Friday nights included two nights of accomodations - the Thursday before and the night of the wedding; Saturday nights had to include the room package, and Sundays had the option of the room package.
The ceremony oval is well-manicured and seasonal elements like annual flowers are added to the venue. There is a firepit area that hosts an after-party. Landscaping at the site is excellent and there are a lot of nice areas for photographs.
The staff is great; the owner Glenn is always constantly improving the venue. Several new elements and rooms were completed during year and a half from our booking time to our wedding. Glenn is on-site on the day of the wedding and is such a gracious host. Marina, the housekeeping and breakfast staff member is a real sweetheart. She was so kind to us during the day and stayed up late to drive our friends back up to the parking lot before getting up early to prepare breakfast.
Since the site is owned by an individual, there is a lot of flexibility to customize the site to your needs. Glenn went above and beyond in permitting and facilitating the special details in our wedding such as allowing us to bring in food and beverages to highlight our heritage and other elements which were very important to us.
The price of the venue is expensive versus other Philadelphia area venues, but for us it was well worth it. That being said, the prices continue to rise and it is a good idea to book early with them to lock in your date and a lower price before they inevitably raise prices. There are discounts based on the season and day of the week. Sundays on holiday weekends are still eligible for the discount. Our wedding was on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend so many guests had the next day off from work, but we received a sizable discount compared to the Saturday price. While the temptation for some vendors would be to provide lesser service to "off-peak" guests, this was absolutely not the case at the LHI as we were truly treated like family. We booked in spring 2009 in the midst of our present recession and as I work in the hospitality industry I knew that many wedding sites were offering deals for weddings. The LHI and their exclusive caterer Jeffrey A. Miller Catering (JAM) are very firm on the price of their services. However, we found that they are open to expansion of "extras" such as the number of people at the official afterparty and breakfast which normally have additional per person costs.
My only issue the way booking and planning are handled you often are in the hands of the exclusive caterer. We found that site-related questions were not always answered promptly during the planning stages. For example, we asked our day-of-coordinator about how to pay the final alcohol expenses reflecting the updated guest count a month before the wedding and we didn't talk to Glenn under the day after our wedding about the issue. Also, since the caterer handles the partyspace wedding planning website, the LHI is not represented on the rival popular wedding site, theknot.com and I think it is a shame because it limits the number of people who know about this great venue!
I know this has been a long review, but to sum it up we had a wonderful wedding day and the LHI is a huge part of why the event was so successful. We had high expectations for them and they exceeded them by miles!

No other venue compares. As soon as we went to visit the Lake House, that was the end of our search. From the main building, to the gardens, to the ballroom, the Lake House can not be outdone. The food by Jefferey Miller Catering is amazing and your entire day is organized to a tee for you...ending by the fire pit at the end of the night. Definitely a location to check out.

This is a breathe taking venue!!! As soon as my husband and I walked into the venue we just looked at eachother and said THIS IS IT!!! Took a tour and was set! The lake at sun set was so beautiful, peaceful and elegant!!! Plenty of space for guest to walk around and explore the grounds. Still months after our wedding and guest are still talking about the Lake House Inn!!! It was the perfect venue for the style wedding we were going for: beautiful, elegant, and on a budget.

the lake house inn is an absolutely STUNNING venue and probably the best wedding location i have ever seen or been to. located on lake nockamixon, it has absolutely breathtaking views, the ULTIMATE spot for an outdoor ceremony and an amazing ballroom for the reception. it is very expensive though so be prepared for sticker shock. there are a few rooms available to stay on premise for guests to stay which look like they come right out of the pages of crate and barrel. everything is very tastefully done and is gorgeous. when i looked at the website, i knew it was going to be great but when we visited, i knew it was "the place".
there is even a "fire pit" that you can have an after party which was a really great way to wind down after the wedding for family and friends who were staying at the inn (there is a clause in the contract that says they will charge you $15 per person if they are not staying at the inn. we had a few extra people and were not charged.) this was probably one of the best features for us as no venue provided anything like this.
when we booked, we were told the site rental fee (basically a $1200/hour fee to "rent" the facility for 5 hours) was $6000 for 2008 but would be $12,000 for 2009 during "peak" months. i don't know how most people can afford that and it's non-negotiable which is why i gave it a lower rating for flexibility. you also are required to use their contracted caterer, jeffrey miller catering. no ifs, ands or buts. to rent the rooms, you can either rent some, none or all. to rent all will cost you $2500. saturday events have a minimum of 125 people; sundays (the day we were married) have no minimum requirement at all. because of PA law, alcohol for your event is purchased through the lake house inn and you can't bring your own, even for the afterparty.
the owner, glen, is awesome. totally down to earth, ultra casual guy who built the place a few years ago with his wife for the purpose of weddings, banquets, retreats, etc. he gives great tours of the place, is a no pressure kind of guy and leaves the business/bookings to the representatives from jeffery miller catering. he knows he has an amazing place and can charge top dollar for its use.
i gave it 4.5 stars for value because the beauty of the setting really balances out the high cost. if you want a truly unforgettable wedding venue, THIS IS IT. the photos on the website don't do it justice...it is definitely something you have to see in person.
in total, we spent $6000 for the site fee, $1500 for the alcohol/bartenders (does not include gratuity), $225 for extra cots in the rooms, and $2500 for the rooms for a grand total of $10,225 before we even started talking about food, decorations, etc.
if we had to do it again at the lake house inn, would we? absolutely.

The wedding planning process was sometimes a bit confusing and at times it was difficult to reach our planner or there was some kind of communication issue, but in the end everything turned out absolutely beautiful. There were no problems at all and the evening flowed smoothly. They are a bit pricey but all of our guests were raving about the venue and the food so it was worth it.

This is an absolute gem of a venue!! It is a bit pricey but worth it. It was so cozy having our whole wedding party with us for the weekend, and very convenient to have everything occurring on site. Glenn (the owner) adds his own charm and character to the place and even greeted our travel weary guests at the door with cold beers. The landscape is just breathtaking, the dramatic bride entrance from the porch was the crowning moment of the day. Capping off the evening with a big warm bonfire was the best ending to the best day of our lives. It's worth the splurge for your special day.

Everyone had an amazing time. Even with a December wedding the venue is still great and you can save a little money. Jason and Shannon were great with being there for everyone on the wedding day! I cannot thank them enough for their help with everything.
