Stokesay Castle

"The original Stokesay Castle in England was built in 1240 and is in Stokesay, a mile south of the town of Craven Arms, in southern Shropshire. George Baer Hiester hired architects to build a duplicate of the original on a site off of Spook Lane as a present for his bride, who did not like it.The castle functioned as a summer home for the Hiesters until 1956, when it was sold to a group that converted it to a restaurant. The property was sold to Charles F. Quade in 1978.Stokesay Castle was operated by Quade's son: C. Scott Quade and his wife, Christine, until it closed in 2007.The property was placed on the market in May 2007 with an asking price of $5.2 million.Stokesay was sold through a public auction in March to businessman Jack D. Gulati."
